I own a Wheaten Terrier which is breed that, ironically, can’t have wheat products. I, of all people, have a gluten intolerant dog. I’m also pretty sure most dogs aren’t really supposed to have too much wheat, but then again some dogs eat literal trash and are fine so I don’t know. Anyway. She’s old and horrible and I love her so today I woke up and made a real dog’s breakfast. Ha.

First up, cake.

This recipe is super simple, all you need is 3 tablespoons of peanut butter, half a teaspoon of baking powder, an egg, and half an apple chopped up. Combine all the ingredients and scoop into a greased ramekin. Bake it at 350º C for about 30-35 minutes.

Cool it and turn it out, when it’s cool enough, decorate it! Get creative! Your dog won’t care but do it anyway!

The biscuits were slightly more work but still very easy. Here’s what you need;

1 egg, 1 1/4 cup milk, 1 tablespoon of honey, 4 tablespoon of bacon fat, 1/4 cup of crumbled bacon, 2 1/2 cups of oat flour.

Cook the bacon until it’s crisp, I used three strips of thick cut bacon which gave me enough for the bacon and the bacon fat (I ate the fourth one). Chop the bacon up and whisk with the milk, egg, honey and bacon fat (allow the fat to cool a bit before adding). Mix in flour in three portions, you may need to use your hands at the end. Once incorporated roll the dough out on a floured surface, the thickness is up to you, just adjust your bake time. Use whatever shape cutter you want or simply cut the dough into strips and place on a prepared baking sheet. Bake them at 350ºC for about 20 minutes.

Obviously let everything cool before feeding it to your dog.

Now look at my cute dog. She’s so good.
